Metro Toronto Hospitals Drug Information Service
A Canadian regional drug
information service designed to meet the needs of hospital pharmacists and
community pharmacists. MetroDIS is physically located at Sunnybrook Health
Sciences Centre in Toronto, Canada. It is accredited as a drug information
service by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
Evolution of MetroDIS
The establishment of MetroDIS
in February 1982 was initiated by the Association of Pharmacy Managers of
Toronto and Area Hospitals. It exists in response to the need to efficiently
provide comprehensive drug information services to Toronto and surrounding area
hospitals. In recent years, the service has been extended to community
pharmacists in Ontario. MetroDIS is an independent service, financially
supported by the membership.
Full membership is available to hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies and other
health-related institutions in Canada. Newsletter subscriptions are available to hospital
pharmacies outside the Greater Toronto Area, community pharmacies, other healthcare professionals,
or pharmaceutical manufacturers.
